Large Home Cleaning in San Marino, Arcadia & La Cañada

Square Footage Tells the Real Story

A five-bedroom home in San Marino and a five-bedroom home in Alhambra are completely different jobs. The San Marino house might have a formal dining room, a butler's pantry, a library, a pool bath, a guest casita and a laundry room the size of a studio apartment. The bedroom count is the same. The cleaning time is not even close.

When we put together a plan for a large home in San Marino, Arcadia or La Cañada Flintridge, the first things we ask about are total square footage, the number of bathrooms and half-baths, how many living and entertaining spaces exist, and how much glass is in the home. A great room with floor-to-ceiling windows or a sunroom that overlooks a garden adds real time to every visit. Smudge-prone glass, stone countertops that need the right product, and hardwood floors that stretch through long corridors all shape the quote before we even count bedrooms.

Why Bathrooms and Glass Drive the Schedule

In estate homes across Arcadia and La Cañada Flintridge, it is common to find six, seven or even eight bathrooms. Each one needs the toilet, sink, tub or shower, mirrors, floors and fixtures done properly. That is not a detail you can skip or rush. A home with eight bathrooms takes significantly longer than a home with four, even if the overall square footage is similar.

Glass is the other factor people underestimate. Large windows, glass shower enclosures, mirrored closet doors and glass cabinet fronts in a display kitchen all need attention. During Santa Ana wind season, roughly October through January, fine dust from the San Gabriel Mountains settles on every horizontal surface and clings to glass. Foothill properties in Arcadia and La Cañada Flintridge feel this more than almost anywhere else in the valley. On those weeks, glass and surfaces need more passes, not fewer.

Structuring a Weekly or Biweekly Plan

For a large home, a recurring plan typically splits the work into what gets done every visit and what rotates in on a monthly or as-needed basis.

Every visit

  • Kitchens: countertops, appliance exteriors, sink, stovetop, cabinet fronts and floor
  • All bathrooms in use: full sanitize of toilets, sinks, showers and tubs, mirrors, floors
  • Main living areas: dust all surfaces, vacuum upholstered furniture, mop hard floors
  • Entryways and staircases, which show traffic quickly in a large home
  • Bedrooms in active use: dust, vacuum and make beds if linens are left out

Rotating monthly attention

  • Guest rooms and formal rooms used only occasionally
  • Baseboards throughout, which collect dust fast on the foothill side of the valley
  • Light fixtures and ceiling fans
  • Interior window cleaning if added to the plan
  • Inside kitchen cabinets if added as well

We try to send the same cleaner back each visit whenever possible. In a home this size, knowing the layout, knowing which surfaces need a lighter touch and which grout lines take more time makes a real difference in efficiency and results.

What the First Deep Clean Looks Like

If a large home in San Marino or Arcadia has not had a thorough clean recently, we strongly recommend starting with a deep clean before moving to a recurring schedule. A deep clean goes further than a standard visit. It includes the inside of the oven, detailed work on showers and grout, cleaning behind and under furniture that gets moved, and a full pass on baseboards, vents and light fixtures.

For estate-scale homes, a first deep clean is almost always a multi-hour job. We scope it honestly based on the size of the home and its current condition before we book anything. Some homes coming out of a long rental or a lease transition through Caltech or JPL need more time than others. Some have been maintained well and just need a thorough reset. We quote the exact flat price by text before anything is scheduled, so there are no surprises on the day.

One thing worth knowing: the inside of the fridge is included in a move-in or move-out clean, but counts as an add-on for a deep clean. Same goes for interior windows and inside kitchen cabinets. If you want those included, just tell us and we build them into the quote.
